Fantsu Lappeenranta skene

Viesti Kirjoittaja korvass »

Hey folks,

It's your friendly neighbourhood ulkomaalainen here :D

I just wanted to drop by and talk a bit about the gaming scene and Lappeenranta Fantasiapelit, what kind of happenings are going down, and a general invitation to gamers in the LPR/Imatra area. Also, I'd like to try and reach out to some of you in LPR or Imatra, that know we exist, but don't visit or game here.

Right now we have a small, but active core of gamers for several systems. Saturday often sees up to around 8-12 40K players, for example. We have about 8-10 people who also play Flames of War. We're now getting into Bolt Action as well. A few play FaBa also. And the following games are also played to a lesser degree: Infinity, Firestorm Armada, Mordheim, board games naturally, Force on Force, and a couple others I forget. :)

Now, I want to make it clear that we are NOT a Games Workshop store. I know that often, stores like Fantsu are kinda viewed like a GW store, like we have to follow all these rules and stuff. But that's totally not the case here. I dont' mind if people need to proxy stuff, have unpainted minis, whacky non-GW converstions. What's most important to me is that people just come along and have a good time gaming. Anyone who has visited the store knows that I am a really friendly guy who is open to any type of gaming (in 25 years, I've played pretty much everything out there!).

To the university crowd, I would love to see more of your guys and gals coming to play here at the store. I understand the problem we have in LPR, though. The public transport system sucks, and is very expensive. It doesn't help that the university campus is a bajillion fricken kilometres away either...derp!
But, I'd still love to see more of you folks playing here. :)

Lastly, the business part. To be honest, LPR Fantsu is dying right now. And if things continue this way, there won't be a gaming/hobby store in Lappeenranta soon. Sucks to say that, but I like to be straight with people. While my primary concern is to nurture a fun gaming environment here, it is still a business.
I don't mean this to sound like a begging or whine post, but the truth is, we do need more support from locals.
Now, we all know that stuff is cheaper online. That's cool. I can never really match the price of online stores. But, I can provide my own kinds of discounts. Uni or club discounts, group orders, or if I just plain like your face. So even if I can't match eBay prices, chances are I can make it a little easier on the wallet.
For example, anyone who joins and likes our Fantasiapelit Lappeenranta Facebook page is guaranteed a 5% discount anytime they buy something, no matter how small a purchase.

So, if you made it this far, awesome! TL;DR: Come play games at Fantsu LPR, it's supermegafuntime! ;)

Seriously, though, everyone is welcome to come play here, no matter what you like to play. Bring anything. Hell, I'll even play a demo of it if you have one! Otherwise, I'm just renting this big expensive store for nothing..

Kind regards,

Paul (that weird English guy who runs Fantasiapelit LPR)

Also, a quick update:

Starting this month and continuing as long as I feel like it, LPR Fantsu will be offering 15-20% alennus on Warhammer Fantasy Battle products (not including latest releases like Chaos).

Aaaaaand, this year I'm going to be putting more focus into alternative miniature gaming, like FoW, Bolt Action, Firestorm Armada and Infinity, among others.
Bolt Action and Infinity are super cheap to start playing, and I like the rules and 'fiilis', so I'm gonna pump some energy into those games.

Party on! :D

P.S. apologies if my original message looked depressing. There are some cold hard truths there, but I've been in this business and hobby for 25 years. It's not all doom and gloom yet.

No retreat, no surrender! ;)
