The plan required something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstoppable.

Hätä seis, Tunen tuli takaisin justiinsa. Hevoset pääs irti tunnin kaks liian aikaisin :P
Re: 40K syksyllä 2012
No, nyt aika sitten kokeilla jonkinlaista kampanjatarinan kirjottamista. Ja sitten joskus lukea se uudelleen ja hävetä.
Reap the whirlwind
Avakus was furious. This was not unusual in itself, as every man, marine and servitor in the Vanguard knew that this was practically the chaplains default mood, but currently the ferocity of his anger was enough to make even the sword brethren in his command wary. And right now, in the small command tent there were none but four of the oldest warriors of the crusade and a young neophyte holding a battered machine in his hands, all of them standing before the looming shape of their armoured reclusiarch.
"Repeat the message." The snarl issuing from the worn, skull-faced helmet was almost unintelligible, and enough to make the neophyte holding the vox-recorder cover as he pressed a rune on the machine. Disturbing, eldritch gibbering was the only sound in the tent for a moment, and even that was cut off in less than half a minute.
"Repeat it." The reclusiarch ordered, for the fourth time by now. But before the neophyte could activate the machine again, one of aged sword brothers took a step forward and cleared his throat, a worried look on his wrinkled face: "My lord, you must calm down. The transmission will not change, no matter how many times it is listened to, or how painful it is."
The reclusiarch was silent for a moment, his hands balling into fists, as if tightening their grips on weapons that weren't there. Finally he spoke again, much calmer than before: "You are certain of the origin of the transmission?"
The neophyte, Wilkus, took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice from shamefully stuttering. "Yes, reclusiarch. We found a small group of what we thought was another crusade approximately five kloms from here. After trying to vox them from a safe distance...This was how we were answered."
Again, the reclusiarch was silent, this time for minutes. The rest of the tent stayed respectfully silent, awaiting what they believed would be an inevitable explosion of rage, which never came. Instead, the chaplains hands relaxed and he stomped past the neophyte and the terminators behind him, and out of the tent. "Bring me Bergenhard and squads Elric and Heinwer. I will personally investigate this heresy."
--------
Major Conway listened to transmission anxiously. Scarcely a hour ago his scouts had spotted a small Astartes strikeforce approaching the camp, and contacted them to find out what they were after...And this demonic gibbering had been the only answer they had gotten. Even now, the strikeforce was drawing closer, and so he had to face the ugly truth. The tall astartes commander next to him had apparently come to the same conclusion as him, as he turned to his men, cursing. "Traitors. We are under attack."
-----
At the same time
"The Guard detachment hiding the traitors sent us a transmission a while ago, my lord...It is as you feared."
Avakus spat on the ground and then fastened his leering helmet back on, covering a face that was little more than a collection scar tissue. "Heretics. Kill them all."
----
Another shell dropped only a few feet from his squad, showering them with debris and dirt. Yet, Avakus barely noticed the danger, so fixated on his prey and on the litanies of hate he was intoning. The traitor leader was bellowing something in the demonic language to his corrupted brothers, and soon bolter fire scraped and thudded against his armor. Somewhere to his side, Brother Tanna screamed and fell as a plasmabolt slammed against his knee, burning through both the heavy armour and the leg. But yet again, he didn't even notice. Bergenhard was voxing something about supply caches and how his men were securing them, but the chaplain didn't even notice. He could already see scripture on the heretic leaders armor.
Avakus' and his men drew closer, their steps turned into a jog, and then into a run. The traitor screeched in that horrible tongue and drew his powersword, scant moments before the reclusiarch was already on him. A swing from the corrupted astartes cut a deep gouge into his armor but failed to penetrate. And then the fight came to a quick end:
The chaplains axe fell, and was parried. But the traitor had underestimated the strength behind the attack, and Avakus struck the blade aside, knocking the man out of balance. Before he could get his guard back up, the Crozius held in the chaplains other hand smashed him on the side of his head, throwing him off his feet and into the wall of the ruined building. The castellan didn't get up again, either dead or unconscious. Believing that his mission was over, Avakus relaxed, the righteous hatred slowly draining out of him. The corrupted astartes were dying around him, all of them still so clean, unmarred by the symbols and mutations so often seen on the followers of the chaos gods. "A saint on the surface, yet rot within..." The reclusiarch mused as he turned his attention to the already retreating traitor guardsmen.

On vähän kiireinen syksy.

Mikäli pelaatte tavallisella, kolmesta levystä tehdyllä pöydällä, Reliikit on helppo asettaa: jokaisen levyn keskipisteeseen yksi. Reliikkien hallinnasta saa 3 VP per Reliikki.
Viännä nyt tyhmälle rautalangasta :P

Re: 40K syksyllä 2012
Flaming Skies
Jago Kallowen was visiting a forward base in a relatively quiet sector. As his army had managed to secure the critical landing zone from the Adeptus Astartes scout party and repulse the attacking Imperial Guard formation, they had now a good amount of ground to operate. Since the clash with the Imperial Guard force, there were only some minor skirmishes and they managed to set up a good defences around their base of operations in relative peace. Kallowen had ordered to set up several small forward bases to gather intelligence, since he didn't want to operate in darkness. His reason visiting this forward base was that there were some intelligence gathered that needed his immediate attention and since they didn't have enough long-range communication equipment, he had to come here personally. Also they had found out that the long-range communication was getting every more difficult, either by Imperial or Xeno jamming technology or by some more... sinister threat.
On arrival Kallowen was greeted by the base commander, who didn't waste any time and informed his Warlord about the findings his scout sentinels and small sniper squads had discovered. There were some strange ancient artefacts hidden in an area that was marked on a map. Also there were sightings of xeno forces so foul in their presence that it is a miracle that the Emperor lets them live. But most disturbing sighting is that there seems to be a heavy deamon presence in the planet and there are some confirmed sightings of the Grey Knights. Eventhough the Grey Knights are true servants of the Emperor, Kallowen didn't like their presence here. Their zeal is so unquestioning. Kallowen feared that upon finding their presence here, the Grey Knights would launch an attack so great that they wouldn't stand a chance against them. And since they knew rites and rituals so secret to mortal man impossible to understand, they could be the one force in the universe that could actually kill them in their current form. Alas, Kallowen had to admit it was tempting to end this eternal battle, but that would be against the Emperor's will and would lead to eternal damnation.
Prey Got Away
Corporal L. was steering his scout sentinel in the forest with his two comrades. He called himself "L" since he had forgotten his real name a long time ago and that was the only thing left on his gear where the nametag would be. He and his comrades were on a combine scout/search & destroy -mission, ordered to scout and gather intelligence and, if opportunity arises, destroy targets of opportunity. Mostly hard targets, as comm-relays and tanks. They were approaching a small shot-up town when they all heard roaming noise coming from their left flank. As they turned to face the noise, they saw a mobile Adeptus Astartes strike force. And it was heading straight to their forward base. They weren't seen, since they were in a dense forest. Corporal L. tried to reach the forward base with his long-range communication equipment, but he only got strange static with irregular patterns. They couldn't warn their superiors in the base, but by the Emperor they will join the fight. He ordered his comrades to follow the trails of the Astartes strike force, since they were already out of visual range. He also contacted another scout sentinel squadron nearby with his more reliable short-range communication equipment. They acknowledged the situation and joined the pursuit.
When the Shit hits the Fan
Kallowen was inspecting the defences of the forward base when the alarm started. Every soldier run to their battlestations and prepared to repel the invaders. Two infantry squads and a junior officer secured the left flank while one infantry squad with another junior officer secured the right flank. Missile launchers were raised into the windows of a ruin that was the main HQ. The base commander send a distress call for any troops capable of helping. Eventhough they had time to prepare the defences of the base, it was still only a small forward base. Determined and large enough assault force could manage to overpower them. And the moment they saw who was attacking, they all knew it would be a bitter fight.
The first shots were fired by a sniper squad from a ruin where they were preparing for another patrol. It was unclear did they manage to inflict any casualties and by the time they were ready to fire a second volley their position was covered with hot green plasma. Kallowen saw as they run from the ruins, trying to find better cover. There were a lots of loud noises as the stationary quad-gun spit ammo as fast as it could, missile launchers targetet vehicles and shot when ready and mortar squads shelled the incoming enemy. Kallowen was started by the sudden noise of a huge thundering roam as the great Griffon heavy mortars unleashed their wrath. But everything seemed to be in vain, as the Astartes kept on coming and split their forces in three different direction. Half of the rhino armored transport went on left flank while the other half drove to the right flank. And large Astartes terminator squad was marching slowly directly at them, ignoring mortar and lasgun fire. Astartes dreadnoughts shot a hail of bullets, but luckely they hit the defence barrier.
"They're coming throught the walls!"
Right flank managed to occupy a ruin as the first rhino belched black smoke and stopped. It didn't slow much down the Astartes inside and even with the junior officer bellowing orders and after many volleys of lasgun shots the Astartes managed to close in and started to climb the walls to reach the troops in the second floor. As the Astartes tried to get in, the troops tried to keep them out. At the same time the junior officer tried to burn outflanking Astartes, but they really didn't manage to hurt them and soon they were assaulted and the standard bearer was first to hit the dirt. The combat was short and brutal and the junior officer disengaged. But it only meant that the victorious Astartes were free to attack those in the building. And in they went.
"In we go!"
The moment the alarm was raised, two squads of stormtroopers were dispatched from the main base to the forward base under attack. First one arrived and dropped right behind the Astartes dreadnoughts. They managed to fire their meltaguns and destroyed one of the dreadnoughts before they were shot with hot plasma. They hit the deck and managed to survive, atleast most of them. After that they opened fire and managed to penetrate three Astartes powerarmour, taking them down. But as they did this, they were shot with frag-missiles and bolter fire. By the time the second stormtrooper squad arrived, there were only three left from the first one, using their fallen comrades bodies as cover.
As the second stormtrooper squad descented from the skies, they were immediately shot by a plasma cannon.
The sergeant from the first squad saw as the second squad was taken down completely by a single well-aimed plasma cannon shot. And his squad was also shot to pieces. Luckily he saw that a scout sentinel squadron joined the fray and managed to outflank and surprise the enemy. He rallied his remaining men and they joined the sentinels.
Cavalry to the Rescue
As the left flank faced two rhinos, there were some distress in the junior officers mind. They had some antitank weaponry, but would that be enough? Just after this thought, there were a huge explosion coming from behind. One of the Griffons had been hit in the ammorack and it detonated. Shrapnels shovered those too close and as the junior officer shrugged off the shrapnels on his jacket, he saw that one of his meltaguns were damaged beyond immediate repair. As the rhinos got closer, he decided to stand firm, even if the odds were stacked against him and his troops.
But just as the rhinos were about to launch an attack, there were two meltashots to the first rhino. There were a huge explosion and after the dust and smoke had cleared enough, the junior officer saw a detachment of Rough Riders charging the marines that survived the tremendous blast. Since the Astartes dont know fear, they steadily and firmly shoot the charging cavalry and managed to gun down half of them. The Astartes readied themselves for the oncoming charge, but it didn't matter since the explosive lances rip through their armor with ease. Those that survived the charge, retreated to a better position. The second rhino also backed, but eventhough retreating it managed to cut down the last of the Rough Riders.
This gave the junior officer the confident he needed and he led his troops to pursue the retreating Astartes. They shot down couple of the Astartes, but their retreat was a ruse to lure him and his troops out of cover. Soon the junior officer found himself and his men in a close combat. As it was brutal it was short. The junior officer managed to strike down the last of the two Astartes that charged his squad. As he scanned his environment, he saw that he and his vox-operator were the only ones standing, besides the four Astartes that stand tall and intimidating. The junior officer retreated to a safer location while the snipers managed to hold them off. In cover he gave his vox-operator orders to inform about the situation they were and requesting reinforcements. Sniper shots were fired and the junior officer raised his head to see where his opponents were. The moment he saw them there were an explosion right next to his head. One of the Astartes had just shot a bolt and almost hit him.
As the vox-operator received orders, he relayd them to the junior officer. It was a general retreat.
"Surprise!"
As the battle raged, the two scout sentinel squadrons had finally catch up the Astartes strike force. The moment they saw the battlefield they selected targets and opened fire. As the surviving Astartes dreadnought saw them, it opened fire and its deep voice was full of hatred: "I shall avenge my brother!" It missed and by the time it managed to set its aim straight, it was shot by three lascannons and they all went through its bulky hull, killing it. The second squadron destroyed one of the rhinos in the left flank. After that they started to hunt down lonely Astartes they saw in the battlefield, since most of the vehicles were destroyed already.
They received new orders from Kallowen. They were to stall the hostile forces and buy time for the main force to disengage and retreat.
"We can't hold them!"
Kallowen watched as the right flanks first rhino was destroyed. The second one couldn't go through it, so instead it drove through the forest and into the defence line. It was stopped right infront of the defence line and the Astartes it was transporting came out. Eventhough they were shot at point-blank range, only one out of five was killed and the rest climbed with ease over their wrecked transport and jumped over the defence line. There was a close combat and as the Kallowen prepared to fight, the Astartes sergeant issued a challenge, which Kallowen accepted. They were locked in combat and both managed to strike home, but the Astartes sergeants armor was too strong for Kallowens chainsword. Kallowen was seriously wounded by the duel.
As Kallowen saw that the remainder of the Astartes terminators reached the defence line and swept away a full infantry squad like they were nothing, he yelled to his vox-operator to issue a general retreat. The main defence line was breached and as he saw that both flanks were being overrun, there were no other choices. Just as the vox-operator had issued Kallowens orders, he was struckt down. Kallowen used all of his skills and help of his bodyguard and managed to disengage the Astartes, before the terminators managed to get past the defence line. The bodyguard left behind and fought a losing battle with the Astartes and as Kallowen looked back he saw a thunder hammer raised and it struckt the bodyguard with such force Kallowen could hear the loud crackling noise made by the energy released.

"Victory or Death! Or if we're lucky, both."
