Mummified, that is the word I would use to describe him, when we first met. He laid there wrapped in his own sadness, closed eyes, closed fists, he was ready for eternal sleep, death amongst the ancient, forgotten. It was hard to convince him even stand up, but I had to, we needed him. After some time, he regained some of his strength and we finally left that rotting place, dark cavern that he called home.
Trust, well thats another matter. After I read his files, I didn’t want this mission. You know the feeling when your guts tell you to not do it. Well thats how I felt. Still, I knew we needed him, resistance needs him. As we listened to incoming storm, I broke the everlasting silence that had born, when we left his cavern. I asked if he knows why I came, he just nodded. Didn’t matter what I said, he wouldn’t answer. That leads me to think that he doesn’t trust me either, and what reason he would. I practically forced him to come with me. I hated our walk. It felt like eternity, silence, maybe and silent rumble of the coming swarm storms.
“We need to speed up.” I said when I caught the first glance at the swarm chasing us. He growled something that I took as an yes, I didn’t hear though because suddenly the rumble had amplified up to menacing roars like thunder striking on to us. Then I realized that we had lost, swarms have evolved once more, they can move silent and strike unnoticed. Be aware father, you are not safe in silence anymore.
I am sorry father, I lost him, but you know, I can’t defeat whole swarm alone and my psionic abilities can’t hide us both. I was lucky that I survived to write you this message. I am returning to my outpost, hopefully it has not been infested yet. I know, he was our best chance to resolve this war but I promise I will find an alternative way.
