40k Campaign "Galactic empires"
In the far future, in a galaxy far, far away...
It was a very typical tuesday evening for Mak. He had finished his work in the fields and was now relaxing in the waning glare of the eveing sun. The Aka-birds flying from tree to tree created a peaceful sound in the background as he laid on the hillside close to his fields. However this harmony was not to last.
Mak's quietude was shattered by a loud booming sound from the skies. As he opened his eyes to look up at the cause of the noise he beheld a group of burning spheres surging down through the thin clouds leaving behind trails of smoke. A few seconds later the fireballs struck the ground in a thunderous blast of dirt.
After the dust had settled Mak observed a huge egg of iron at the bottom of each impact crater. To his great amazement the eggs split with a mechanical hum to reveal massive humanoids clad in steel emerge from inside them.
From the orbit high above the rest of the space marine invasion force descended on the planet aboard their thunderhawks.
Playing in the campaign
In order to partake in the campaign the participant must have a 40k army worth at least 1000pts and be able to play a game against any other participant at "Cross" (or other venue agreed upon by both players) once every two weeks.
Those willing to take part in the campaign must contact the campaign master Juho Hinkkanen before the end of August.
Campaign Rules
Games will be played using the 5th edition rules and any supplemental rules imposed by the campaing master. All campaign games must be played using the same army list. Changes can be made to accomodate differing points levels or after a campaign event allows for one.
The campaign will progress in a series of two-week phases. In each phase the players will issue challenges to other players in varying order. Challenges will be issued in this thread in order to keep all participants up to date.
Example: if order of challengers is A, B, C, D, E, F. then A will get to choose who to challenge. If A challenges B the next one to issue a challenge is C. If A challenges C then B gets to challenge any unchallenged player (D, E or F) next.
In the next campaign phase the order of challengers would then be B, C, D, E, F, A
The same players can't fight each other in two successive phases.
Challenges will be fought out at a points level agreed upon by both parties.
The campaign games will determine the progress of each player on the campaign map. The winner of each game will get to conquer either an unclaimed area or capture an area adjacent to any of his/her areas from the player he/she fought last.
Most areas grant their controllers benefits to be used in the campaign.
Outside influence: in order to include players who are unable to attend the campaign in a regular fashion outside influence is introduced into the campaign. This means that a non-campaign player will assault a campaign player's area. The campaign player runs the risk of losing his/her area and the benefits gained therefrom.
Outside influence will be used to equal the odds or push the campaign forward according to the judgement of the campaign master. All games including outside influence must therefore be sanctioned by the campaign master.
Campaign will end when the first player looses all his/her areas. The winner is the one controlling most areas at that time.
